I’m Ruth Bradley, the photographer behind Lorraine 7. I sure you’re wondering about the story behind my business name…keep scrolling to find out.
After 14 years of cheering on my son in baseball and football, this passionate English teacher and Jeep Wrangler enthusiast (stick shift, baby!) decided to face her empty nest with a camera, not tears.
It started in Montana. The year was 1989 and I roped my sister and my cousin into an impromptu photoshoot in the gravel lane of my grandparent’s cabin. This love for the lens recently resurfaced when I was talking to my son Hayden (class of 2023) about his opportunity to explore his interests.
I decided to take my own advice which led me to my first photoshoot with my nephew (view his photos HERE). Since then I’ve enlisted my family and friends who have been more than willing to start down this yellow brick road with me. Armed with the patience, compassion, and resilience I honed during 23 years in the classroom, I am ready to start working on my retirement plan and help families capture their forever moments.
Whether you’re celebrating an engagement, recording family memories, or crafting your brand image, I invite you to embark on this new journey with me. While weddings will be a little bit further down the road for me, I can’t wait to discuss your senior portraits, family sessions, and brand shoots. So, hop in that Jeep (metaphorically speaking!), and let’s roll!
Like most people I have a story behind my name. Most photographers use their first and last name for their business because photography is an intimate experience, and what’s more intimate than your name?
Choosing my business name was a thoughtful process influenced by my grandmothers, Betty Ruth and Betty Lorraine—two remarkable women. To honor them both I weaved all the components of my name into my business identity. The photographer…Ruth Bradley. The brand…Lorraine 7.
The seven? I added it to set myself apart in a saturated market. I was born on the 7th at 7 in the 70s, so needless to say…7 is my number.
And there you have it, the origin story of my business name.
