This wedding is the first full-scale wedding I’ve ever photographed and I’ve been looking forward to it for months! I first met Alexis and Michael at their engagement session in June. Their devotion to one another was immediately apparent and they worked so well together. I’m excited to see where their forever journey takes them.

Winter is here and so is the snow! For our family that means getting snowed in at the family farm in Western Maryland. With a nice layer of snow and no sign of it stopping, my niece and I headed out to the far corners of the farm to get some snowy portraits.

On a rare bright day during the dreary holiday weather, I seized the opportunity for an impromptu portrait session with my nephew, Wyatt, a budding guitarist. Wyatt, my sister and I escaped the winter blues with a dose of sunshine and charm in Sleepy Creek, West Virginia!

Our family has a farm in Western Maryland where we’ve created so many memories. If you’ve ever traveled west on 68, you’ve surely see it because it’s the only farm on that route with a covered bridge (The Betty Ruth). My son had his senior photo shoot there last year, and my nephew wanted to have his portraits taken there as well. I met my mom, my sister and her husband, and my nephews and niece there on Columbus Day and so it began.

Doing a family session with my brother and his family was so memorable. My brother is one of the most charismatic people I know, and also one of the biggest goofballs. He and my sister-in-law Lauren have four boys. Every year they host Thanksgiving at their house and I wouldn’t miss it! After dinner we all head to the family farm in Western Maryland for the first day of rifle season and this year they gave me the chance to do a practice family photo shoot. I was also able to get some candid shots of the guys preparing to hunt.

I’m not anywhere close to being a seasoned photographer yet, so doing any photo shoot is a little out of my comfort zone. When I showed up on Sunday to a living room full of people watching their favorite football team on TV I was even more nervous. They gave up watching the game so I could practice photography! Everyone was sweet and supportive and we ended up getting some nice fall family photos.

A fun tradition for our annual December girls’ weekend is watching the Ocean City Christmas Parade and this year was its 40th anniversary.
Summer teased us the whole way through the parade with the Ocean City Beach Patrol, the Chincoteague Pony Drill team, and paraders dressed up like Old Bay, flamingos, crabs and sea turtles.
